Niamh Rodgers

Niamh Rodgers is a horn player from Cork, Ireland, and is currently based in London. She is a Postgraduate horn student at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Niamh studies the horn with Philip Munds, Angela Barnes and Jonathan Lipton, and has recently begun studying the natural horn with Roger Montgomery.

Niamh began her music studies on the violin at the age of five and later took up the horn with Sean Clinch in the Cork School of Music. Niamh has always enjoyed ensemble playing was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland from 2015 – 2019. She has performed with this orchestra in venues across Ireland, Portugal and the Netherlands, including a side by side performance with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.

Since beginning her studies at Guildhall, Niamh has developed a passion for conducting and is now studying with David Corkhill. She recently conducted Mozart’s 4th Horn Concerto and an Evensong at the Holy Sepulchre Church. Niamh is also a member of the Haizea Ensemble and performs regularly with this group in various venues around Cornwall, Cambridge, Scottland and most recently, LSO St. Luke’s in London.

Alongside chamber music, Niamh has a great interest in orchestral performance. She is currently a member of the Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra and has performed at Cadogan Hall and St. John Smith Square with the orchestra. Niamh has performed under the baton of conductors such as Gianandrea Noseda, Roberto Gonzalez Monjas, Daniele Gatti and Nicholas Collon. Niamh is the horn player for the 2023-2024 Ulster Orchestra Professional Experience Scheme and is looking forward to gaining more orchestral experience. This year, she has continued her studies on the Orchestral Artistry course with a generous scholarship granted by the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
