Adam Buttimer - Tuba

Adam Buttimer will graduate in June 2024 from the BMus programme at the Royal Irish Academy of Music having studied with Francis Magee. As part of his studies, Adam spent a semester at Sibelius Academy in Helsinki studying with Petri Keskitalo during 2022. Adam has had a great passion for music from an early age, starting Piano at 5 years old and Tuba at age 8 in his primary school band. Adam began his ensemble playing with Banna Chluain Meala. Adam has played in masterclasses for world renowned brass players including Jens Bjørn-Larsen, Les Neish, Øystein Baadsvik and Gary Curtain. In 2022, Adam reached the final of the Maura Dowdall Concerto Competition and Dublin Brass Week Concerto Competition 2023 and the Semifinal of the Freemasons Young Musician of the Year Award and was the winner of the Audrey Chisholm Award at Birr Festival of Music. In November 2022 Adam performed Vaughan Williams Concert for Bass Tuba with Trinity Orchestra as soloist. In March 2023, Adam along with a number of his peers set up a new music ensemble in the RIAM called Outside the Lines Collective. Adam has performed nationally and internationally with National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, Sibelius Academy Symphony Orchestra, Nation Youth Orchestra of Ireland, Irish Youth Wind Ensemble and in side-by-side projects with KlangForum Wein and Ensemble Modern.
